FAQ: Hobnobs Recipe
1. Can I use rolled oats instead of quick oats?
Yes, rolled oats work best for that authentic, chunky texture. They give Hobnobs their signature crispness. Avoid using quick oats as they will alter the texture of the biscuit.
2. Can I add chocolate to these biscuits?
Definitely! You can dip the biscuits in melted chocolate after baking, or add chocolate chips to the dough before baking for a chocolatey twist.
3. How should I store homemade Hobnobs?
Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. They’ll stay fresh and crispy for days! You can also freeze them for up to 3 months—just wrap them tightly and pop them in the freezer.
4. Can I make these Hobnobs vegan?
Yes! Simply swap out the butter for a plant-based alternative like vegan butter or coconut oil, and use maple syrup instead of golden syrup if you prefer.
5. How do I make sure my Hobnobs are crunchy?
Make sure to bake them until golden—this ensures that they will be crisp and crunchy once cooled. If you prefer them a bit softer, reduce the baking time slightly.
6. Can I add other flavours to the dough?
Feel free to get creative! Adding cinnamon, ginger, or even a handful of raisins or nuts can add new layers of flavour to your Hobnobs.
